USMC Loopwheel Tee [AG94243]

The USMC LOOPWHEEL TEE has been released by "ANTIQUE GARMENTS".

This product is based on a 1940s U.S.M.C COTTON T-SHIRT, faithfully reproducing the sewing specifications of the time.

Sewing was commissioned to "REBUILD," which handles the production of the LAST RESORT silver tag series and Dugout Trousers. Craftsmen who are experts in vintage sewing machines use their skills to carefully sew each piece.

It is knitted with 14/-cotton open-end yarn in a circular and loop-knitted jersey. This year, in addition to the classic ecru, it is released in three colors: the very popular marine green from last year, and a new color, black.

This fabric uses a loopwheel knitting machine in Wakayama, and its characteristic is that it can freely adjust not only the yarn count and needle gauge but also the texture. Unlike modern high-speed knitting machines, it can create the desired texture without applying excessive tension to the yarn. This time, by increasing the density to a certain extent without compromising the yarn tension, we achieved both a moderate thickness and a soft wearing comfort.

Cotton thread is used for the basic sewing thread, and silk thread is used for the decorative stitching (outer swing thread) on the back of the collar, enhancing strength and stretchability.

Three types of rare vintage sewing machines are used for sewing.

FLATLOCK is used for seaming (shoulder seams and sleeve seams). This is a representative flatseam machine used for underwear since the early 20th century, and it is a valuable model that was active until around the 1960s. It features a slightly sharper seam, different from U.S. flatseamers.

UNION SPECIAL 52800 is used for the collar binder. This is a semi-automatic oil-feed high-speed sewing machine that appeared in the late 1930s, realizing double-sided decorative stitching with a flat two-needle. It reduces the thickness of the collar and combines a good feel against the skin with durability.

Furthermore, UNION SPECIAL G76000 is used for the hem. This is a historical sewing machine that has existed since the era of wool shirts, faithfully reproducing the hem texture characteristic of vintage T-shirts.

In this way, by combining REBUILD's excellent sewing technology with rare vintage sewing machines, we have created a special piece that pursues "authentic comfort and appearance" rather than production efficiency.
