USMC Loopwheel Tee [AG94243]　

The USMC Loopwheel Tee has been released by "ANTIQUE GARMENTS".

This product is based on a 40s USMC cotton t-shirt, faithfully reproducing the sewing specifications of that era.

The sewing is entrusted to "REBUILD," which also produces the LAST RESORT silver tag series and Dugout Trousers. Craftsmen who are intimately familiar with vintage sewing machines use their skills to carefully sew each garment one by one.

Made with 14/- cotton open-end yarn, knitted using both tubular and loopwheel knitting techniques, this year's release includes three colors: the classic natural color, the highly popular marine green from last year, and a new black.

This fabric is made using a loopwheel knitting machine from Wakayama, and its characteristic feature is that it allows for precise adjustment not only of the yarn count and needle gauge, but also of the texture. Unlike modern high-speed knitting machines, it can create the desired texture without putting unnecessary tension on the yarn. In this case, by increasing the density just enough so as not to kill the tension of the yarn, we have achieved a balance between a moderate thickness and a soft, comfortable feel.

Cotton thread is used for the basic sewing thread, and silk thread is used for the under-collar trim (the outer stitching) to enhance both strength and stretchability.

We use three types of rare vintage sewing machines for our garments.

The main seams (shoulder and sleeve seams) utilize a FLATLOCK machine. This is a representative flatlock sewing machine that has been used for underwear since the early 20th century and is a valuable model that was in active use until around the 1960s. It is characterized by a slightly angular stitch, which differs from that of a US flatseamer.

The collar binder uses the UNION SPECIAL 52800. This semi-automatic, oil-lubricated, high-speed sewing machine, which was developed in the late 1930s, enables double-sided decorative stitching with a flat double-needle system. It reduces the thickness of the collar, providing both a comfortable feel against the skin and durability.

Furthermore, the hem is made using the UNION SPECIAL G76000 sewing machine. This historic sewing machine, which has been around since the era of wool shirts, faithfully reproduces the distinctive look of the hem of vintage T-shirts.

In this way, by combining REBUILD's exceptional sewing techniques with rare vintage sewing machines, we have created a special garment that prioritizes "authentic comfort and texture" over production efficiency.
