During the French Revolution (1789-95), trousers, which had previously been the preserve of the common people, became popular among the upper classes, and it was at this time that suspenders also became widespread. Since then, suspenders were the dominant accessory for holding up trousers until the 1920s. It seems that suspenders were used because trousers at the time were generally high-waisted, and belts would cause them to slip down. The 2 Monkeys, which offers many high-waisted trousers, has created suspenders that have been frequently requested. We've used an original striped band that evokes a classic feel, combined with vegetable-tanned Tochigi leather, and opted for cord button tabs for easier attachment and removal compared to leather tabs.
These are made by Sturdy, with whom Jelado has also collaborated frequently. Sturdy's washing process gives them a soft texture.
