The 2 Monkeys Sportif Bordeaux Vachetta [TM81935]

Vachetta leather is made using traditional methods passed down in Tuscany, with its origins dating back to around 800 AD. The number 800 in the tannery's name is said to derive from this history. It is a leather finished by tanning vegetable-tanned undyed leather and thoroughly permeating it with animal oils like fish oil and neatsfoot oil to make it supple and sturdy. Vachetta leather, made from cowhide, has a much thicker grain layer (the layer of leather with high fiber density on the surface) than the standard black French calf (calfskin) of the Sportif, and is a firmer leather.
We also set the leather thickness slightly thicker when adjusting it for shoes.
Compared to the standard black calf Sportif, which softens and molds to the foot from the first wear, this leather feels stiff at first, but because it is thoroughly impregnated with oil, it will gradually conform to your feet with wear.
This vachetta leather, rich in oil and finished in a deep color, has a finely embossed grain that evokes the charm of hand-rubbed leather from ancient times. As it is a pull-up leather (where the color brightens in areas that are pressed or pulled as the oil inside moves), when the boots develop wrinkles and creases, the color variations will emerge, deepening their expression. It is a leather whose aging is something to look forward to.
