Sportif 2 is a variation of The 2 Monkeys' classic Sportif boots, with changes to the vamp and backstay design. This season's model is the vibrant black and white two-tone "Chamonix."
The origin of black and white, or "combination," shoes is said to be as cricket shoes made in England in the 1860s. For low-cut shoes, they were widely adopted in the 1920s-30s as a style favored by dandies, becoming an iconic shoe style of the era. The Sportif 2 "Chamonix" features a black and white two-tone design, which is rarely seen in boots but looks great on moccasin-type toes. The black leather is made from calfskin from Annonay, while the white embossed leather is domestic steerhide.
The leather is slightly stiffer than that of the standard Sportif (Black Calf), but it is much softer than the thick leather of work boots, enveloping the foot and offering a comfortable wearing experience.
The last, the Goodyear welt and Blake construction, and the toe box that molds to your foot as you wear them are all shared with the Sportif.
The E-width last offers a slightly relaxed fit. The comfortable arch support from the sculpted waist leather is the same as the classic Sportif.
Details such as the welt stitching, high-pitch stitching, heel lift, and sole dyeing have been made more classic and dressy, resulting in a boot that naturally fits not only casual styles but also dress-like outfits.
