British and American fighter pilots often wear white silk scarves around their necks with their flight jackets. Silk, an animal-based fiber, is light, durable, and excellent at retaining warmth, making it an ideal material for keeping the neck warm. However, its high cost is a drawback. At The 2 Monkeys, we've created silk scarves by cutting 112cm-wide silk fabric into a nearly square shape and leaving the edges unstitched. While the cut edges initially fray, they will stop fraying further once they become short fringes, allowing you to use the scarf without needing to stitch the edges.

Such silk scarves are similar to cravats, which originated in Europe and America in the 17th century and later evolved into modern ties. While the materials and shapes of cravats changed over time, early versions involved wrapping a square piece of fabric thinly around the neck.
