Chambray shirts are indispensable to the American casual style. Currently, chambray refers to a plain weave fabric that uses colored yarn for the warp and white yarn for the weft. Its name comes from Cambrai, a town in northern France that has been famous since the Middle Ages as a production center for delicate linen plain weave fabrics.

Our Linen Cambrai Shirt uses a light, thin linen plain weave fabric, similar to those woven in Cambrai, and incorporates the silhouette of mid-19th century shirts, while also making it easy to pair with modern casual styles such as American casual.

While incorporating mid-19th century styles such as a roomy body and gathers at the collar and cuffs, the shirt has been adapted from the predominantly pullover style of the time to an easy-to-use full-open front.
