The 2025MS seasonal itemGrand Sportifis a calf-length high-cut version of The 2 Monkeys' standard Sportif boots.
In 1920s America, low-cut shoes were called "Oxfords," and 6-8 inch length shoes, now called boots, were called "shoes." The term "boots" at the time referred to footwear that was 10-16 inches long, i.e., calf to below-the-knee length.
These tall "boots" were widely worn for dangerous outdoor work and outdoor activities. Grand Sportif is a moccasin-type boot that is calf-length (25cm from the insole to the opening for a US size 8, approximately 10 inches long). The last, design other than the length, construction method, and sole are the same as the standard Sportif, but the upper leather is different from the Sportif; it uses Italian horsehide (horsefront) that has been dyed black in Japan with a brown core.
Because it is soft and conforms well to the foot, it can be worn with a soft feel that doesn't feel like a 10-inch boot. Since it is dyed with dye and then finished with pigment, you can enjoy a richly textured aging process, including natural brown core patterns.
Similar to the standard Sportif, it combines Goodyear welt construction and McKay construction to narrow the waist, and this, along with a slightly higher pitched heel, creates elegant curves like boots from a bygone era.
