The 2 Monkeys Belle Epoque Waist Pullover 【TM81133】

This pullover shirt is inspired by the workwear of the Belle Époque, a period of flourishing French civilization and culture from the late 19th to early 20th century. French workwear of that time primarily consisted of smocks that reached down to the knees, known as Biaude (or Bieaudeau). While pullovers were the mainstream, there were also variations such as front-opening types, shorter waist-length ones, and even designs closer to modern jackets. Shorter jacket-like items were also apparently called blouses (pronounced "blooze" in French). The Waist Pullover is designed based on one of these waist-length pullover variations. The relaxed fit of the body, with pleats under the back yoke, can be cinched with a strap at the back to create emphasis. The straight-patterned wide sleeves feature pleats at the cuffs and gussets under the armpits, a design that, similar to European men's wear from the Middle Ages onward, emphasizes the chest and shoulders. Although the length is short, designed primarily to be worn untucked, it can also be tucked into high-waisted pants.
For this season, we used a vintage duck fabric with an early American taste. This fabric will develop a richer texture and soften to the body with wear.
