This pullover shirt is inspired by workwear from the Belle Époque period, when French civilization and culture flourished from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. At that time, French workwear was mainly knee-length smocks. They were called Biaude or Bieaudeau. Pullover types are the mainstream, but there are various variations, such as front-opening, short waist-length, and styles similar to modern jackets. Short jackets were also called blouses (pronounced blues in French). The waist pullover was designed based on one of these waist-length pullover types. The loose body with pleats under the yoke on the back can be tightened with a strap on the back to add some accent. The straight pattern of the thick sleeves has pleats at the cuffs and gussets under the arms, which also emphasizes the chest and shoulders, and is a design that is similar to European men's wear from the Middle Ages onwards. It is basically meant to be worn with the hem turned out, and is short in length, but it can also be tucked into high-waisted pants.
Both are also possible.
This season, we have used vintage duck fabric with an early American taste. The fabric improves in texture with wear, becoming soft and conforming to the body.
