We are once again offering our popular flock print sweatshirts, which always sell out instantly.As always, the body was commissioned to Riding High, who produced a sweatshirt featuring our unique free-sleeve design.This time, it is available in a black body, which enhances the print's appearance.For the print, we used electrodeposited flocking by an 80-year-old skilled artisan who also collaborated with us on YouTube. This process involves more steps than regular printing, resulting in a meticulously crafted finish. Since there are very few artisans left who can carry on this technique, it is extremely valuable. The design for this collection reproduces the skull and snake embroidery found on flight jacket storage cases from the Vietnam War era, using flocking. Given that the year 2025 is the Year of the Snake, we chose this motif.The body is produced using an old knitting machine called the Azuma knitting machine. By knitting in a circular manner (without side seams), it creates a highly elastic, soft, and fluffy material that is different from conventional fabrics. The Azuma knitting machine is a rare knitting machine used to create terry cloth with a vintage texture and lightness. It emerged around the 1970s as a transition from loopwheel knitting machines to innovative knitting machines, and because it knits slowly, few remain today. As a result, you can enjoy a fabric with an uneven surface and a fluffy texture.Regarding the napping, for circular napping, the napping is applied evenly to four surfaces to match the flat plane, requiring four times the effort of regular napping. By napping before dyeing, the unique texture of the material is highlighted.The sewing is almost entirely done with twin needles, and the cuffs use circular knit ribbing. The cuff ribbing is attached in a single pass from the twin-needle sewing at the armpit, faithfully reproducing vintage sewing methods. This sweatshirt allows you to enjoy the unique texture and details of that era.
