This side gore boot, which has its roots in English riding boots, is said to have been named "Chelsea" because it became popular in the Chelsea area of London in the 19th century. Although it is often used for formal shoes, it has also been used as a work boot for a long time due to its high functionality. The gore (elastic fabric) sewn on the sides of the shoe makes it easy to put on and take off, fits snugly around the ankle, and prevents mud from entering.
The Classic Chelsea maintains its traditional style while being a completely new Chelsea boot that combines relaxation and comfort. The insole uses highly cushioned Poron material, which is well-known for its Super Sole. A thin leather sheet is placed on top of it to achieve cushioning and comfort. In addition, the vamp lining on the instep uses a soft, antimicrobial and deodorizing air mesh to improve comfort and wearability.

The leather for #3192 is Hawthorne Muleskinner, an oil-infused roughout leather. Because it contains oil, it is slightly darker than dry tan (non-oil-infused) roughout leather, Hawthorne Abilene. The deep color and nap of this leather give #3192 a calm and tasteful look.

The last (shoe tree) is called "No. 8" and is one of the oldest lasts currently used by Red Wing Shoe Company.
In 1953, this last was combined with the seamless back upper (a type that wraps both sides of the foot with a single piece of leather with no seams at the heel) developed in 1941, and the cushion sole used in the "Irish Setter" in 1952. The first product was apparently item number #766.
