Rainbow Country BU AERO U.S. Navy G-1 Flight Jacket Goatskin Dark Seal Brown 【RCL-10074-2021】

Adopted by the U.S. Navy in 1947 as the successor model to the M422, M422A, and AN-J-3A (3AN6552), the 55J14 was the first flight jacket to be given the model name Type G-1 in addition to its spec name.
While the U.S. Army Air Corps A-2 jacket used horsehide, the Navy used goatskin, and the addition of a sheepskin collar gave it a more rugged appearance.
The G-1 jacket continued to be issued from 1947 to 1976 with no fundamental design changes, making it a unique flight jacket beloved by Navy pilots.
Despite being continuously issued without fundamental spec changes, the G-1 has variations in design depending on the contractor and delivery period, and like the A-2 jacket, it is highly coveted by collectors worldwide.

This model was produced by L.W. FOSTER.
This company, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has a track record of supplying numerous jackets, including the G-1, as a contractor for the U.S. military.
L.W. FOSTER is known to have made at least eight deliveries of Navy flight jackets, including the AN-J3A, 55J14, and 7823, and among them, they produced the 1947 N-383s-10427, which was the first G-1 as 55A14.

The goatskin used for the leather is 100% bark-tanned (full vegetable tannin), and like the original, the base is dyed orange and then dyed a dark seal brown.
The lining uses thick cotton-rayon fabric.

The front zipper also uses a deadstock, non-locking, iron-made Conmar slider, just like the original, and the pocket buttons are custom-made urea buttons dyed to match the color of the original.
The ribs are double-knitted for durability.
