The 1947J422 was adopted by the US Navy in 422 as the successor to the M3, M3A, and AN-J-6552A (55AN14), and was the first flight jacket to be given the model name Type G-1 in addition to its spec name.
The U.S. Army Air Corps' A-2 jacket was made from horse leather, but the Navy used goatskin and added sheepskin fur to the collar, giving it a more rugged look.
The G-1 jacket was issued from 1947 to 1976 with its basic design unchanged, and is a one-of-a-kind flight jacket beloved by Navy pilots.
The G-1 has continued to be issued without any changes to its basic specifications, but there are differences in design depending on the contractor and delivery time, and like the A-2 jacket, it has become the envy of collectors around the world.

This is the LWFOSTER model produced this time.
The company that makes this model is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has a history of supplying numerous jackets to the US military, including the G-1.
L.W.FOSTER社は海軍のフライトジャケットであるAN-J3A,55J14,7823まで分かっているだけでも8回の納入実績があり、その中でも55A14として最初のG-1である1947年のN-383s-10427を製作いたしました。

The goatskin used for the leather is 100% tanned (full vegetable tannin), and just like the real thing, the base is dyed orange and then finished in a deep dark seal brown.
The lining is made of thick cotton rayon fabric.

The front zipper also uses an iron Commer non-locking deadstock slider, just like the real thing, and the pocket buttons are custom-made urea buttons dyed the same color as the real thing.
The ribs are double knit for durability.
