Paperboy Satchel [JDG31663]

The "Paperboy Satchel" is a deconstructed and reconstructed heavy-duty duffel bag, reimagined for modern lifestyles. It has its roots in the shoulder bags used by newspaper delivery boys in early 20th-century America. The thick canvas fabric and large capacity design were meant to protect newspapers from rain and wind, while also enduring the tough work of dashing through the streets. The "Paperboy Satchel" makes the most of vintage duffel bags, reconstructing them in a minimalist way. The original opening is made functional as a flap. By creating the wide strap part from a different vintage fabric, the image of the Paperboy Satchel is brought to life. The design is reminiscent of a modern messenger bag. The top left is a vintage mail bag used by postal services such as the United States Postal Service (USPS) to transport domestic mail to yards. The thick khaki canvas on the bottom left is thought to be a Barracks Bag likely used by the pre-WWII American military.
