New Britain is an industrial city in Connecticut, USA.
The "New Britain Harness Belt" was born from the honest craftsmanship of this city, which developed through the manufacture of tools and hardware. Starting with the design of a work harness, it combines thick leather with functional metal parts,
pursuing reliability as a tool. The structural beauty, stripped of ornamentation, quietly tells the story of the spirit of New Britain.
Inspired by the existence of vintage buckles that were once manufactured by the long-established hardware maker North & Judd Co.
This belt is named in homage to the history of the company, which produced countless metal parts based in the industrial city of New Britain.
The simple and sturdy design of the buckles that have survived through the ages conveys the philosophy of tools and the memory of the land.
Using deadstock buckles from North & Judd from around the 1960s, the leather for this belt was produced with a brown core. It is original leather that reproduces high-quality leather from 20 years ago by a domestic tannery.
Multiple layers of oil are applied to achieve flexibility and
a comfortable fit when worn.
The brown leather is hand-dyed with black dye to create a black color. With use, the unique aging and luster of the brown core will appear.
North & Judd was a long-established hardware manufacturer founded in Connecticut, USA, in the late 19th century.
Known for its brass parts for saddlery, military gear, and workwear, the "Anchor Mark" engraving, in particular, was widely recognized as a sign of reliability. With its robust construction and high precision, it continues to be supported by vintage fans and craftsmen alike, symbolizing American heritage.
"Button Works" is a Japanese craft brand that mainly develops brass and iron buttons and metal parts rooted in vintage designs.
