The M-44 Monkey Pants were developed in 1944, towards the end of World War II, and are known for their unique design and functionality. Commonly referred to as "Monkey Pants," these pants were produced for a very short period, from July 1944 to October 1945, and were issued to the elite US Marine Corps, resulting in a very limited production run and making them extremely rare and valuable. These pants were designed for field combat, with an emphasis on ease of movement when crawling or leaning forward.
A particularly distinctive feature is the large pocket placed at the back, designed to store rations (food) and grenades. The material used for this item is a specially dyed herringbone twill, also used in the CM47. Herringbone is a durable fabric with ridges that stand out due to variations in the twist, and a threne dye has been used to faithfully reproduce the colors of vintage items.
