This season's wide-leg trousers from The 2 Monkeys are based on vintage French linen work pants, believed to be from the early 20th century, and crafted from a densely woven linen-cotton random herringbone fabric.
These are high-back pants with a deep rise and a silhouette that tapers slightly from a relaxed, wide thigh. We've faithfully reproduced details from the original, such as the hook-and-bar closure at the front top, a watch pocket below the waistband, and gussets above the front pockets, which were likely included to shift the pocket openings backward. While the original vintage pants lacked belt loops and only had suspender buttons, with just one back pocket, we've added narrow belt loops below the waistband and included two back pockets.
