These are easy-to-wear side gore shoes that don't use shoelaces, instead featuring elastic fabric on both sides for a snug fit. The design uses a single piece of leather with no seams on the sides, enveloping the foot. The leather is tanned in Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture, then infused with wax and tumbled to finish. It is firm, but as you wear it, it softens and develops a rich, distinctive character. We use a slightly wide oblique last, providing a relaxed fit.

The shape of a shoe is determined by its last. At KOTOKA, we use two types of lasts for both men's and women's shoes. The "oblique type" has a wide toe area and ample room over the instep, while the "round type" has a moderately rounded toe and a smart silhouette.
These shoes are made with a slightly wide "oblique type" last. While we don't specify width, please consider them to be approximately EE in standard shoe sizing.

Shoe sizes can vary depending on the shape of your foot, the compatibility with the last, the manufacturer, and the shoe's construction. Additionally, sneakers are often made smaller than leather shoes, so the sizing can differ. Please refer to the following guidelines when choosing your KOTOKA shoe size.
