 These are lace-up shoes made from a single piece of leather, intentionally left unlined from toe to heel. You can enjoy a unique wearing comfort as the leather gently envelops your feet.
The natural, supple leather is made in Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture, where it is hand-finished based on vegetable-tanned leather. This leather develops a rich patina over time.
The shoe last is an oblique type, with width around the toes, allowing for a relaxed fit.

  • The shoe last determines the shape of the shoe. At KOTOKA, we use two types of lasts for men and women respectively. There is an "oblique type" with a wider toe area and ample room around the instep, and a "round type" with moderately rounded toes and a smart silhouette.
    These shoes are made with the slightly wider "oblique type" last. While we do not specify a width, please consider it to be approximately EE in standard shoe sizing.

  • Shoe sizes can vary depending on the compatibility between foot shape and last, as well as by manufacturer and shoe construction. Additionally, sneakers are often made smaller than leather shoes, so the sizing can differ. Please refer to the guidelines below when choosing your size for these KOTOKA shoes.
    【For those with wide feet or high insteps】
    　Approximately 1.0cm to 1.5cm smaller than your sneaker size.
    　The same size as your leather shoes, or approximately 0.5cm smaller.
    【For those with slender or thin feet】
    　Approximately 1.0cm to 1.5cm smaller than your sneaker size.
    　Approximately 0.5cm to 1.0cm smaller than your leather shoes.

  •  These shoes use "Tatsuno Hand Wax Leather," which is produced by first pit-dyeing vegetable-tanned leather at a tannery in Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture. Then, molten wax is hand-rubbed into the leather surface with a special hand iron, weighing around 10kg, to create leather with a soft luster and feel.
