The Aloha Girl Aloha Shirt from KONABAY HAWAII. Made from Japanese 100% rayon fujiette fabric, and sewn in Hawaii, this is an authentic Made in Hawaii aloha shirt. Fujiette is a plain weave fabric that uses filament rayon yarn for the warp and spun rayon yarn for the weft. Compared to regular rayon, it is a thicker fabric with a unique drape. The print is discharge printed. The buttons are made of oyster shell. The pockets are pattern-matched, creating a vintage-inspired look.
This particular design is based on a popular border pattern from the 1950s by KILOHANA. It depicts lei seller daughters welcoming passengers of the Matson Line (ship) arriving at Honolulu port, with colorful leis arranged in a border pattern.
