JELADO Westcoast shirt, Indigo sashiko [SG41118]

The name WEST COAST SHIRTS comes from the fact that shirts from the 50s had a "Made in California" tag attached to them.
This shirt features an open collar, boxy silhouette, flat collar stitching, and flap pockets, all of which are common in the 50s style.
The fabric used this time is made in Hamamatsu, with all processes from spooling to weaving taking place.
The warp thread is 20/1 dark indigo, and the sashiko part is 20/2 light indigo.
The weft thread is woven with a 20/1 dark blue thread. (SA-022) Double weave only has a 10/1 dark blue thread.
The dark blue is dyed by soaking it in the kiln 8 to 10 times, and the light blue is dyed by soaking it in the kiln 4 to 6 times.
The concentration is increased by placing skeins of indigo in the indigo bottle.
As the dyeing is all done by hand, there will be slight differences in the shade and uniformity of the colour each time, but when the fabric is finished, this will appear on the surface as an exquisite character that cannot be achieved through rope dyeing or other methods.
Like the rain kasuri sashiko we created last year, this is a one-of-a-kind piece from the indigo sashiko series that has a unique atmosphere and uses a unique fabric that can only be made in Japan.
The long point collar and pocket flaps are bag-stitched, giving it a more vintage feel.
It has a streamlined silhouette while still maintaining the atmosphere of the 50's, and the arms look slimmer and sharper when worn.
By making the arms narrower, the shirt is finished without the awkward look that is typical of a boxy silhouette, making it a fashionable and stylish shirt that can be worn more casually.
