The theme of the 2024 Spring/Summer collection is "SPROUT," and is based on the name of the first second-hand clothing store that Goto started, and aims to recreate the collection from that time as well as items he purchased in the United States.
A particularly noteworthy item in this collection is the printed corduroy shirt, a popular open-collar shirt from the 90s that was a part of the vintage boom that began in the 50s. It was available in a variety of patterns, but the chess pattern that you especially wanted is the one we are releasing this time. This chess pattern is a very rare piece that we purchased from a vintage dealer in town called FRESNO, and it is a memorable item that sold out immediately after we brought it back to Japan.
This collection reproduces the chess pattern featured in the FABULOUS 50S, published by a New York collector of the 50s. The pattern is printed horizontally on 14W corduroy fabric, reproducing the same color and size as the original. The base colors are available in three colors: black, vanilla, and turquoise, and the weave of the fabric is also matched to recreate the atmosphere of the time.
This chess-patterned shirt has a boxy silhouette and goes well with denim or chinos, but even when worn alone it is an impactful item that is highly collectible. It is inspired by the vintage clothing store collection at the time of the company's founding, and you can feel that it has been reborn as a unique design and item.
