JELADO Van Nuys Pharaoh Jacket [SG03411]

With the name of the vintage clothing store established 20 years ago as our theme, we will reproduce and develop items that were popular and purchased at that time, such as VINTAGE pieces.

The multicolor rib pharaoh jacket, which is now rarely seen.

This time, we reproduced a pharaoh jacket with an unusual wool pique body from scratch.

We used strong spun yarn that is difficult to lose its shape, similar to the characteristics of British wool spun domestically, for the warp, twisting nep yarn and kemp yarn 1:1 to create the yarn. Three types of yarn were used for the warp.

　For the raised parts (1/6.5 and 1/6), we used a mottled yarn made by twisting two types of yarn. For the recessed parts, we used 2/7 yarn. For the weft, we twisted 1/7 thickness yarn blended with nylon for strength to create a ribbed wool pique.

Since the 1/6 warp is 100% wool and the other yarns contain 10% nylon, the calculated composition is 92% wool and 8% nylon.

Similar to jacquard, we created a raised and recessed (day and night) pattern, making the count of the raised warp thicker than the recessed warp.

For the fabric finishing process, we paid careful attention not to rub it too much, and minimized the washing time and temperature for felting, opting for a tweed finish to bring out the texture. By making the fabric finish as natural as possible, we created an atmosphere similar to vintage items.

Instead of a quilted lining, we used a patterned lining, giving this piece a different impression than before.

Amid soaring prices for 1950s vintage items, the pharaoh jacket is one of the representative outerwear pieces from that era. This versatile piece can be worn oversized over leather or paired with an open-collar shirt to enjoy the 1950s style.
