This item was produced as a main item for this spring, using the same material as the jacket.
We have been working for many years with fabric merchants and visiting production areas to create Chimayo fabric from before the 1940s, and it is finally complete.
The composition is 77% wool, 14% cotton, and 9% nylon, reproducing a rough, hand-woven feel while maintaining strength.
A characteristic of jacquard looms is their ability to express complex patterns through weaving.
Among these, all-over pattern jacquard looms, which can express patterns across the entire width of the fabric, are particularly rare.
They can produce textiles with highly fashionable patterns and designs.
According to the fabric merchant handling this fabric, there is currently only one loom operating in Japan that weaves this vest, making this fabric very rare.
The raw materials used are original yarns that have been carefully selected and blended.
The finishing process, which is the final step in fabric production, was developed specifically for this original material. In the initial fabric washing stage, the fabric is washed at a slower speed than usual.
Instead of brushing, a tweed finish is applied to preserve the texture of the yarn. Furthermore, a resin treatment is applied to give it a resilient, springy feel when touched, achieving a dry fabric feel and a crisp texture.
This Chimayo vest is tailored into a gilet-type vest with a cut hem, similar to the new SALEM VEST.
