We've created the ultimate souvenir jacket, replicating the vintage originals by entrusting the embroidery to artisans in Kiryu who still uphold traditional techniques. They meticulously stitched it using rayon thread and horizontal embroidery machines, just like in the past. The vintage piece we based it on was a one-of-a-kind military sukajan, a custom order from an air force soldier, which we've reproduced faithfully. To ensure a perfect reproduction, we've paid close attention to the materials. The velvet is a domestic fabric with a firm texture and subdued sheen. The rayon satin lining has a glossy finish from filament warps and a plump texture from spun wefts.
Since it's made from 100% rayon and faithfully reproduces vintage sukajan, you can experience the authentic feel of those original pieces. And just like in the old days, after the quilting embroidery is done, the quilting is hand-stitched, making this a particularly elaborate piece. For the batting, we've recreated the "wadding" used in vintage jumpers and furniture, using real reclaimed cotton made from various discarded fiber materials. Therefore, while we cannot provide detailed quality specifications, we believe those who appreciate such details will enjoy wearing this piece for its authentic vintage feel and weight.
