The theme of JELADO's 2022 BASIC COLLECTION is "EAST AND WEST," and the main item of the collection has finally been completed.
"TATANKA" is the Native American name for an Indian warrior. This time, we created this jacket using the same material, with the intention of making it a main item for spring.
For many years, we visited fabric merchants and production areas to create a Chimayo fabric from before the 1940s, and it is finally complete.
The composition is 77% wool, 14% cotton, and 9% nylon, reproducing a textured, hand-woven feel while maintaining strength.
Jacquard looms are characterized by their ability to express complex patterns through weaving. Among them, all-over pattern jacquard looms, which can express patterns across the entire width of the fabric, are highly rare. They can create textiles with rich patterns and designs.
The raw materials used are original yarns that have been carefully selected and blended through spinning.
The final finishing process of fabric production involves an original process tailored to this original material, and in the initial fabric washing stage, the fabric is washed at a slower speed than usual.
Instead of napping, a tweed finish that retains the texture of the yarn is applied, and further resin processing gives it a resilient feel when touched, achieving a dry fabric feel and crisp texture.
We have faithfully reproduced a blouson-type Chimayo jacket with a front zipper.
The body is made of Chimayo jacquard cotton-wool fabric, with 11W corduroy used for the sleeves, collar, and pockets.
We produced it on a black base, which is highly rare and popular in vintage items.
To achieve the ideal pattern balance, we repeatedly consulted with pattern makers and factories, and designed it as a blouson with the best possible fit.
