RED WING 8" CLASSIC MOC Oro Legacy【RW877D】

In 1952, Red Wing Shoes first introduced the white, flat-bottomed, highly cushioned Traction Tred sole to men's hunting boots. This was the 8-inch boot #877.
Immediately after its release, this boot gained great support not only from hunters but also from workers across the United States and became a great success. The sole, which prevented fatigue in hunting fields and kept mud from sticking to the sole, making footsteps quiet, was also comfortable and easy to walk on ladders, beams, stones, and wood on construction sites. The design avoided seams near the sole to prevent water intrusion, the gusseted tongue sewn all the way up to the opening to prevent mud and water intrusion, and the moccasin-type toe (moc toe) that hunters had long preferred also contributed to the practicality and comfort of work sites.
The excellent functionality of the #877 is still effective for wear in modern city environments. These include the cushioned sole that prevents fatigue even after long hours of walking, and the comfortable fit due to the absence of stitches around the foot.
The pattern (template, i.e., the design of the leather parts before sewing) of the #877 has not changed at all to this day. This also tells us how complete the shoe was when it was first released.
The #877 is a best-selling boot among Red Wing Shoes' historical lineup and can be said to be a representative American shoe. This is because, just as jeans, originally workwear, became a representative American fashion, work boots are a representative American shoe.
From its initial release in the 1950s until the 1990s, the #877 used an oiled brown leather called Oro-Russet, but over its long history, its hue changed several times, sometimes having a bright gold tone and sometimes becoming more reddish. In 2014, the leather was returned to its original oil-rich, orange-tinged brown leather, resulting in the current Oro Legacy leather. We select raw hides with a particularly smooth grain and, after tanning, only dye them without applying any paint to the grain, resulting in a leather with a natural texture. It develops more character and depth with wear.
