From the STANDARD COLLECTION, we are releasing our classic indigo short-sleeved chambray shirt. In an era where many workwear items with rare, eye-catching details are circulating, we designed this short-sleeved shirt with a classic design from a realistic workwear perspective.
However, it might be surprising, but short-sleeved chambray shirts are rarely seen in original (vintage) pieces. Most are long-sleeved shirts whose sleeves were cut off by the original (or later) purchasers. Although many workwear brands existed in the 1940s and 50s, only a handful produced short-sleeved chambray shirts. Therefore, while it is an orthodox item in terms of design, from a vintage item perspective, it is a highly valued and appreciated item. This time, we have taken such an original short-sleeved chambray shirt and put together an orthodox design while incorporating the robust and practical specifications of workwear. The collar has double stitching, the body seams are triple-stitched, both sides of the body have gussets, and a union ticket is sewn to the inside of the left front hem. The buttons are metal, there are flap pockets on both chests, and red cotton thread was used for the bar tacks.
This workwear is designed with a realistic perspective, deliberately refraining from special details such as asymmetrical "gacha-pockets" or "yama-pockets." The length is finished shorter to allow for a clean silhouette while still providing room around the armholes. It's a simple design that incorporates the basics of workwear, so it can be enjoyed not only by those seeking a workwear style but also by those who want to wear it outside of that context. It can also be worn with shorts for a "casual holiday style" without feeling out of place.
