The foundational inspiration for this piece is the "2-Star" riders jacket produced by Windward, a sub-brand of the historic Montgomery Ward company.

With market values for 1950s vintage currently going through the roof, we anticipate that leather jackets from this decade will attract even greater reverence moving forward. Consequently, we have upgraded our leather finish for this release to offer an even deeper appreciation for its vintage character. We have faithfully reproduced the distinctive epaulet design featuring the iconic dual star studs, and lined the interior with a quilted satin to maximize wind resistance and warmth.

The jacket is tailored from premium 1.6mm-thick horsehide treated with a combination of chrome and vegetable tanning process. The hide begins with a light brown base dye before undergoing a traditional surface-dyeing (oka-zome) method at a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo, where it is first sprayed with a dye coat and then finished with a thin layer of protective pigment. We intentionally selected this semi-aniline finish to emulate the finest vintage expressions and the natural patina of weathered, era-correct leather.

By keeping the pigment layer remarkably thin, areas naturally subjected to movement will rub down more readily, allowing the underlying brown base tones to peek through. Thanks to the supple pliability of the combination tan and the absence of a heavy coating, this jacket delivers exceptional comfort right from the start and offers an incredibly rapid, rewarding aging process.
