We liken VINTAGE to stocks and focus on items that are likely to increase in value in the future, creating a silhouette that is easy to wear and a fit that is balanced with the vintage atmosphere.
The vintage piece used as the base is the 2Star rider's jacket made by Wind Word, a brand of Montgomery Ward.
The popularity of 50s vintage items is currently on the rise, and we believe that 50s leather jackets will continue to attract more attention in the future, so we have changed the leather finish to give them a more vintage feel.
The distinctive design with epaulettes and two-star studs is reproduced exactly, and the lining is made of quilted satin to enhance protection against the cold.
The material used is horsehide approximately 1.6 mm thick, which is combination tanned (chrome x tannin) and dyed a light brown.Then, at a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo, the dye is sprayed on using a hill dyeing method and then a thin layer of pigment is applied to finish it.
We chose a semi-aniline finish to achieve a nice vintage feel and to capture the look of vintage leather that changes over time.
By applying a thin layer of pigment, the areas that are under more tension as the garment is worn will rub against each other, making it easier for the base color to show through.
The softness of the combination tanning and the fact that the coating is not thick make this a comfortable piece that you can enjoy aging quite quickly.
