The word "Cowichan" in "Cowichan sweater" comes from the traditional cold weather clothing worn by the indigenous Cowichan people who lived on Vancouver Island in Canada. Sweaters and cardigans made from thick, oily wool are water-repellent and warm, have a unique texture and weight, and are hand-knitted with geometric patterns and animal patterns such as the Thunderbird and reindeer, which were sacred birds of the Cowichan people. This time, we collaborated with GIM and used their production background to create a special Cowichan knit. We reproduced a Cowichan knit with a rare bison pattern from the 60s. While reproducing this rare pattern, we also put a lot of thought into the yarn to bring out the roughness of the vintage, and the taste and atmosphere that can only be expressed by hand knitting. Four recycled yarns were randomly mixed into the eight-stranded yarn to create a vintage-like uneven color and thickness. The recycled yarn is made by collecting and reusing discarded wool from spinning factories. The yarn is 8% recycled wool and 4% polyester. The base is hand-knitted jersey stitch, but the garter stitch is mixed in to add a more lively feel.
Available in two colors: black and grass green.
This is an item that goes well with flannel shirts, sweatshirts, western shirts, etc.
*Please note that the size of this product may vary by +/- 2cm due to the fact that it is hand-knitted.
