This is a reinterpretation of a 1930s horsehide car coat from the HERCULES brand, which was developed by Sears, Roebuck and Co. We sampled a particularly rare model with four flap pockets and reconstructed it with JELADO's own interpretation. The silhouette, while rugged, also exudes a certain elegance, combining the robust strength characteristic of workwear from that era with the balanced feel unique to car coats. It's a piece that naturally blends into modern styles while preserving the vintage atmosphere.
The material used is approximately 1.6mm thick horsehide. It undergoes a "combination tanning" process where it's initially chrome-tanned, then the solvents are washed away, and it's re-tanned with tannins. This process achieves both the substantial feel unique to tannin-tanned leather and a rich, aged appearance that deepens with wear. The base is dyed a light brown, and then "tea-core" dyed black at a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo. As you wear it, the underlying brown gradually emerges, allowing you to enjoy the irresistible aging process that vintage enthusiasts adore.
For the finish, a semi-aniline finish is adopted, which combines dyes and pigments in a balanced way.
The suppleness of the dye and the light coating film created by the pigment are exquisitely fused, realizing a natural, deep texture and rich aging. LAST RESORT
WABASH stripe is used for the back of the flaps and the back of the belt. Attention to detail, even in unseen parts, creates a subtle yet authentic vintage feel. Nut buttons and iron buckles are used for the accessory parts. By matching the texture of the materials down to the smallest detail, it brings the atmosphere of the time as close as possible.
Additionally, the size fit has been reviewed and updated to a balance that is easier to wear and can be thrown on daily. It retains its ruggedness while becoming a car coat that fits modern styles perfectly. Heavy leather, rare 4-flap specifications, and genuine aging design. This is a piece that revives the charm of vintage HERCULES in the best possible way for the modern era.
