Introducing DEAN from the BASIC COLLECTION.
We have released swing tops many times, but this is the first time we have sampled and developed one based on McGregor's Drizzler.
We named it DEAN in homage to the red Drizzler worn by James Dean in his iconic 1950s film, "Rebel Without a Cause."
Instead of the nylon-cotton material used in typical Drizzlers, we used Ventile, which has a higher density weave and a natural luster, to incorporate newness, toughness, and luxury into a classic shape.
Ventile is an ultra-high-density fabric developed as a water-resistant garment for British Air Force pilots to protect their lives even in cold oceans.
Ventile is a 100% cotton natural material woven to ultra-high density using some of the longest cotton fibers in the world.
Unlike artificial waterproof materials, it combines the high density of its weave with the characteristic of natural cotton fibers to "swell when wet with water," and it has also been treated with a water-repellent finish during the dyeing process.
The biggest difference between this processing method and more common waterproofing methods like coating or lamination is that it allows us to ensure water repellency while maintaining the natural breathability and feel of cotton material.
And unlike artificial materials, one of its features is that it doesn't make a rustling sound when the fabric rubs, allowing you to feel the casualness of natural fibers!
This material is woven in Japan, using 40/2 extra-long staple cotton in both warp and weft, woven to its absolute limit.
