JELADO Crow Gown【AG8249】

We've released the CROW from ANTIQUE GARMENTS. It's named after one of the Native American tribes, the Crow. The Crow tribe was known to trade with white people, primarily in furs. This name is based on the hypothesis that Native Americans might also have traded blankets they wove.

This is an original, painstakingly woven blanket fabric. Using a jacquard loom, the only one of its kind in Bishu, we've used 2/48 worsted yarn for the warp and designed it so that the 1/10 weft yarn almost entirely shows through. By intentionally using thin worsted yarn for the warp, the colored threads woven from the woolen weft yarn emerge on the surface, creating the substantial feel of a Native American blanket. We spent two years developing the pattern, repeatedly checking yarn color beakers and testing color schemes to match the feel of patterns from that era. To bring out the pattern and texture of the weft yarn, we consulted with a finishing factory and gave it a special light milling (light brushing) followed by further pressing. While blankets with fewer colors, such as two, can achieve a thicker appearance by weaving both warp and weft with woolen yarn, expressing a complex pattern with many colors, as we have done, results in a fabric that requires immense effort.

This time, using that special fabric, we tailored a blanket gown based on styles from the 1920s to 1930s, with a modified front button closure. We've preserved the feel of the large shawl collar and accurately reproduced the distinctive, subtly shaped patch pockets. Piping tape along the fabric edges enhances both luxury and design.

The front closure uses buffalo horn toggles. This piece is perfect for layering over denim or leather.
