For Spring/Summer 2023, we continue with the "GILT EDGE VINTAGE" theme from last autumn/winter. This time, we based our design on military pants adopted by the US ARMY in 1947, using herringbone twill. To make them more functional, we removed the back pocket flaps and waist adjusters, creating a simple baker pant style. It's said that baker pants got their name because bakers wore them. Also known as "fatigue" pants, which means "chores," they were worn not only in combat but also for internal duties. The M-47 pants succeeded the M-43 pants, with a major difference being the removal of large side cargo pockets. Urea buttons are used. The fabric comes in two types. One is a herringbone twill with a rich texture, using 14/- warp and 8/- weft threads, with a slightly darker color than vintage originals.
By using an SZ-twisted herringbone structure designed based on vintage fabrics, it reproduces the authentic feel of the era with a pronounced twill line. The other option uses a 10 oz light-ounce denim, typical of workwear from the 1950s, with 17-count warp and 10-count weft threads. By weaving in sulfur-dyed gray weft threads, we achieve a deep color and the authentic aged look of the period. The slightly wide silhouette makes them very versatile for coordinating with outfits beyond just jeans. These baker pants offer an appealing aesthetic that will age beautifully, so please give them a try.
