Rather than the bold, sharp fading on the sleeves, pockets, and yoke that occurs when the garment is vigorously worn after one wash, we have processed the garment to achieve a natural fading that occurs over time, as is often seen in vintage items.
The basis is our company's 407EXX This is a vintage item that is the source of the collection. We have reproduced its natural creases and faded look while making the color slightly darker. This gives it a balanced look that will be completed with repeated wear.
The processing process involves shaving and rubbing the fabric with paper to remove any light hairs or marks, then giving the fabric a one-wash (OW) and using pins to highlight the marks. After that, the fabric is bio-washed and then refined. This adds a light bleaching process that prevents the fabric from transferring color while giving the surface a clean finish.
After making the rubbed areas appear slightly whiter, a grinder is used to emphasize the shading. In addition, a "hypochlorite rub" is applied by hand using hypochlorite to recreate a more realistic worn feel. On top of that, a gray-beige dye is added to areas that have excessive puckering or wear, creating a dirty look like vintage items.
In order to achieve a realistic vintage feel, we went through many processes to achieve the right color and atmosphere.
