The fabric is based on bus signs used in the UK from the 1950s to the 70s.
The impersonal typography and color scheme, which were actually used as destination signs, strongly retain the atmosphere unique to public transportation at that time.

 
Because the black areas are all hand-painted, the worn look and rustic texture, reminiscent of vintage fabric, are part of its charm. Since each bus sign is cut from a single piece of fabric, the pattern placement will differ from one sign to another.
