Dugout Trousers [AG21322]

These work trousers are inspired by a historic artifact unearthed from an abandoned early-1900s coal mine. While we have issued this silhouette in various fabrications over the years, for this specific release we have completely reconstructed the patterning, tailoring architecture, and component specifications to elevate the garment to its highest level of refinement. For the material, we utilized our premier LAST RESORT Ao-Tag (Blue Tag) Indigo Wabash stripe denim. We commissioned the master tailoring artisans at REBUILD to execute the construction, deploying a historic fleet of vintage machinery - specifically the Singer 31 (single-needle lockstitch), Singer 134 (twin-needle lockstitch), and the Singer 99W (eyelet buttonhole machine) - to flawlessly replicate the raw manufacturing parameters of the era. Both the inseams and outseams are completed with fully enclosed felled seams, strictly adhering to 1910s construction guidelines to manifest that heavy, highly detailed, and beautifully deliberate finish that predated the dawn of modern industrial mass production.

The garment's architecture features a classic high-back, split-center waistband design loaded with historic utility character. It comes fully equipped with authentic suspender buttons alongside a distinctively wide, robust front fly placket, perfectly recreating the secure, heavy-duty hold demanded by turn-of-the-century laborers. The entire button layout is executed using custom-manufactured raw metal hardware, engineered to slowly oxidize, tarnish, and develop a deeply nuanced matte character over time.

Reflecting the rugged structural demands of early industrial clothing, the pockets are reinforced with precise lock stitched top-stitching to echo authentic period-correct details. While the source historical garment originated from an era that entirely bypassed belt loops, we have thoughtfully added loops to satisfy modern wearability requirements, securing them firmly via heavy-duty lock stitching. To guarantee maximum structural integrity under stress, the inner waistband, rear pocket flaps, buckle back lining, and front button facings are all backed with a specialized reinforcing lining fabric, allowing you to enjoy a beautiful contrast of color fading and raw texture as the garment breaks in. Inside the trousers, the pocket bags are built out of an authentic striped utility pocketing fabric to take the vintage presentation to the highest levels.

The rare buckle back assembly features a very early geometry exclusively found on the most primitive generations of genuine vintage utility wear. For the rear storage layout, the left pocket is fitted with a secure button-down flap, while both pockets are cut with an updated, deeper cavity designed to safely accommodate a modern wallet. As you regularly wear and wash these trousers, the deep indigo Wabash canvas will naturally fade, crease, and pucker along the seams to yield a highly personal, entirely unique heritage silhouette.
