CM43 HBT Field Jacket [CT03443]

We've released an M-43 type jacket made from selvedge herringbone twill.
This time, we've tailored it with the same herringbone twill used back then. The M-43 was an item newly developed and officially adopted in 1941 at the request of President Roosevelt, to refresh the image of the military among young people and increase enlistments. It's said that some soldiers found the old-style blue denim uniforms to be of poor quality and uncomfortable to wear. Therefore, HBT (herringbone twill) fabric, which had been adopted by the Air Force since 1939, was chosen.
Initially, this new uniform was intended for training and general duties, but it later came to be used as combat fatigues in tropical climates. Due to its excellent usability and reputation, production continued, and a total of five specification changes were made to add new size variations, simplify for improved productivity, and enhance convenience. Approximately one year before the Normandy landings (D-Day) on March 12, 1943, the US military, concerned about the potential use of poison gas during the invasion, developed and produced the "D-type" specifications, known as "M-43," in the fourth specification change. The fabric used is a solid, hefty herringbone twill available in two colors. The herringbone weave creates distinct ridges by varying the twist, resulting in a durable fabric. The dyeing is also done with vat dyes, allowing the color to fade with wear, providing an aged look similar to vintage items. Instead of 13-star buttons, iron laurel buttons are used, and the domed shanks of the buttons enhance the overall feel. Additionally, the gas flap has been removed, making it easier to arrange the jacket when worn open without buttoning. Since the fabric is vat-dyed, it will fade with each wear and wash, offering an attractive aged appearance.
