This M-43 type jacket is available in herringbone twill with selvedge edges.
This time, it was made with the same herringbone twill as back then. The M-43 was newly developed and officially adopted in 1941 at the request of President Roosevelt in order to renew young people's perception of the military and increase enlistment. The old uniform was made of blue denim and was of poor quality, and some soldiers found it uncomfortable to wear. Therefore, the uniform was adopted by the Air Force in 1939.
We decided to use HBT (herringbone twill) fabric, which was previously used in the production of this item.
This new uniform was initially intended for training and general duties, but was later adapted for combat in tropical climates. Due to its ease of use and positive reception, it continued to be produced, undergoing a total of five revisions to add new sizes and simplify and improve productivity. With the Normandy Landings (D-Day) on March 12, 1943, approximately one year away, the US military was concerned about the use of poison gas during the landings, and the fourth revision, the "Type D" (M-43), was developed and produced. The fabric is a two-tone, thick herringbone twill. The herringbone has a distinct twist for a durable texture. The dyeing process uses sulfur, which fades with wear, creating a vintage-like patina. The buttons are made of iron laurel instead of 13-star buttons, with domed button feet for a more stylish look. In addition, the gusset flap is omitted, making it easier to keep the jacket together when left unbuttoned. The fabric is dyed with sulfur, so it fades with each wear and wash, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful changes that occur over time.
