The U.S.A.A.F. Type A-2 Summer Flight Jacket is packed with COLIMBO's meticulous attention to detail.
This jacket is based on a 1942 model.
This particular model was supplied to the military without a "contractor name," only bearing a "manufacturing control number."
It is, quite literally, an A-2 made by an "anonymous manufacturer."
As such, it features several differences in specifications compared to a standard Rough Wear A-2.
The storm flap covering the zipper is wider, and the zipper itself is designed to be slightly concealed, like on a G-1 (known as a "mushi-kakushi" or insect-concealing design).
Furthermore, there's a rectangular leather patch sewn where the hem ribbing meets the storm flap.
These parts are design elements that likely originated from factories like "FRIED OSTERMAN," which produced the M-422A, the predecessor to the G-1!
This A-2 boasts a design characteristic of wartime, when various manufacturers produced and supplied jackets from different factories.

The leather is top-quality horsehide, full-vegetable tanned and finished with aniline dye.
The base brown is a brighter shade, making it a "tea-core" leather that allows you to enjoy color changes and aging.

This fabric, inspired by Italian military tent patterns, provides a thick and firm lining.
The zipper is a deadstock "TALON" zipper.
The ribbing is a red rib knitted with a mix of red-toned 100% virgin wool threads.

The fit is moderately relaxed, not too tight, allowing a bit of room around the arms.
