COLIMBO Observer Parka Amend#2 Naval Patrol Wing 1942 [ZY-0123]

Following the success of the N-1 Deck Jacket, a longer parka was developed for use in more severe environments. It was primarily issued to deck officers who needed to command for long periods in exposed conditions, as well as to observation plane and balloon crews.
This product models a piece from that era, modified to be a shorter version of those coat types.
The lining is made of light brown alpaca pile.
The soft alpaca fabric offers both comfort and warmth.
The front features a combination of buttons and a zipper, with nut buttons and a TALON zipper.
The waist also has an adjustable drawstring on the inside.

A unit subordinate to the Atlantic Fleet, formed at Naval Station Norfolk.
They performed duties such as spotting shell impacts, reconnaissance, and even rescue operations using seaplanes like the J-2F Duck and PBY Catalina, as well as carrier-based aircraft like the SBD Dauntless.
The custom design is inspired by the popular finish on deck garments, where original markings are painted over and then re-stenciled to correct the content.
