COLIMBO's classic G-1 (AN-J-3A) makes its reappearance this time with a refreshed model!
The G-1 was originally developed in the 1930s, with the first model adopted in the 1940s, as a flight jacket specifically for "Aviators" (traditionally referring to pilots in the US Navy).
This particular model, from around 1945, is an AN-J-3A jacket, a "common-issue item for both Army and Navy."
Compared to regular G-1s, this is a hybrid model with a classic narrow silhouette and slightly shorter length, a reddish rayon satin lining, and brass zippers treated with an oxide film, making it a specification overflowing with various ideas and appeal.
The leather for this body is goatskin, full vegetable-tanned with a pigment lacquer finish.
The fine, uneven grain and the unique reddish hue of the leather, which has a strong vintage feel, create an outstanding atmosphere.
It's a leather that combines the water resistance unique to goatskin with the high moisture retention of the leather itself.
The lining is made of cotton 35% rayon 65% cotton-rayon satin fabric, which is smooth and durable.
The buttons are carved buffalo horn marble buttons.
The collar is luxuriously made with beaver lamb mouton fur.
The ribs are virgin wool, in a two-stage rib specification.
The silhouette has been renewed this year, with a comfortable fit that offers more room in the shoulders, chest, and arms.
The length is also good, allowing for a neat look without feeling constricting.
With a slightly relaxed silhouette typical of a flight jacket, it pairs perfectly with denim, as well as work pants and trousers.
This G-1 is a lifelong item with a basic design, the soft texture of goatskin, and the enjoyment of leather aging.
