Named "Brutal Fleece," this sweatshirt embodies a tough construction designed to withstand rigorous training, hence the name "BRUTALFLEECE." We custom-knitted a 1940s heather gray double-V sweatshirt and sewed it using vintage sewing machines. With the cooperation of the specialized brand "REBUILT," this garment has been meticulously crafted. For the fabric, we used #20 top yarn for the face, #40 natural yarn for the middle, and #8 natural yarn for the back, recreating the deep heather gray of vintage pieces. We adjusted it so that the natural middle yarn subtly appears on the surface, creating a natural heathered look unique to top yarns. Finished with the fluffy texture characteristic of loopwheel machines, any stretching or sagging after wear can be restored by washing.
For sewing, we used the same vintage sewing machines as in that era, paying meticulous attention to every detail. Using a SINGER 105-4 (double chain stitch machine), the fabric is sewn together and cut to an appropriate length, with the reverse side covered by a two-needle cover stitch. The seam allowance is visible on the front, and when turned inside out, the front fabric is visible at the seam, creating a unique specification. The cuff ribs are also sewn with this machine, adopting a run-off finish for strength. This uses less thread, ensuring elasticity without the seams becoming too rigid.
Furthermore, the seams are finished by pressing the cross-section sewn with a UNION SPECIAL 11900, preventing seam bunching or rippling with appropriate stitch length. For the collar binder, a UNION SPECIAL 52800 is used, and by sewing from the back, a thick silk thread is placed on the front side. This enhances elasticity and strength while preventing thread breakage. This is the ultimate vintage sweatshirt, meticulously crafted with attention to fabric texture, sewing techniques, and machine selection.
