We have created a leather vest befitting the 2026 theme of "SHIBU-KAJI." We believe that biker fashion is one of the toughest styles within American casual wear.
Looking back at the styling of that era, many outfits featured not only leather jackets but also leather vests as the main item.
This piece reconstructs those vintage archives within the context of SHIBU-KAJI.
As an item reminiscent of bikers, it is named after a place in California, where outdoor culture such as touring and camping is deeply rooted.
The design is based on 1930s zip-up leather vests. We used luxurious suede made from full-grain leather (with the grain intact),
leaving the grain intact gives it thickness and strength, resulting in a substantial finish.
The leather used is domestic female cowhide, approximately 1.5mm thick. A combination tanning process, based on chrome tanning with added tannin, gives it a plump, firm, and立体的な (three-dimensional) appearance.
Dyeing is done solely by drum dyeing, without spraying, creating natural variations in each garment due to differing dye penetration into the fiber layers.
The more it's worn, the more it develops a vintage look. Despite its tough roots, this piece blends into city life depending on how it's layered. It's an iconic vest that embodies SHIBU-KAJI in leather.
