Hemming up (裾上げ)

We offer chain stitch and single stitch hemming services.

For purchases made at the JELADO online shop:

If you purchase a bottom item from the JELADO online shop, add the hemming service (0 yen) to your cart along with the item and complete the payment. We will hem the item to your desired inseam length. Your item will be shipped as soon as the hemming is complete. On the hemming service page, you can select an inseam length (from 60-90cm).

For items purchased at other stores:

JELADO also offers hemming services for JELADO products purchased at other stores, for a fee.

Generally, spun polyester thread is used for hemming, but this doesn't allow for thread shrinkage, preventing the ideal vintage fade. We use 100% cotton thread, which allows for thread shrinkage and age-related changes to create a vintage-like fade. We also use a Union Special (vintage sewing machine). We highly recommend our specialized hemming for your treasured pants.

Hemming Process

1. Please contact us by phone or email.

We will ask about the item you wish to have hemmed and your preferred payment method (cash on delivery or bank transfer).

 

 2. Please send your jeans to us.

Please include hemming instructions.

Example instructions:

a. "Please shorten by ○ cm from the heel."

* This method allows for more accurate hemming than indicating "○ cm from the inseam."

b. Mark your desired position with a clip or tape before sending.

 

3. Payment

(1) If your payment method is cash on delivery:

We will ship the item as soon as hemming is completed. Please pay the delivery driver upon receipt of the item.

(2) If your payment method is bank transfer:

Please make a deposit to the bank account provided at the time of your inquiry.

 

4. Return Shipping

We will return your item as soon as hemming is completed. If you have any preferred dates or times, please inform our staff when discussing your hemming details.

 

Important Notes

Customers are responsible for shipping costs for both sending and returning items.

We cannot hem unwashed (rigid) or heavy ounce (17 oz or more) items, as an ideal finish may not be achievable.

Please wash and dry your item before sending it. Please be aware that if the item is not completely dry, or if it is excessively dirty, we may contact you for confirmation or decline the service.

If there is damage to the hem, we may not be able to accept the service depending on the condition.

If the desired finished position is close to the original stitching, we will unravel the original stitching before hemming. Please note that needle holes may be noticeable, or fibers may come out from the needle holes.

Scraps are typically discarded. If you wish for the scraps to be returned, please include a clear instruction within the package (e.g., "Return Scraps Desired") along with a piece of paper stating your "postal code, address, name, phone number, and emergency contact (e.g., mobile number)."
