I don't particularly like fine whiskers, so I aimed for a wild look and did squats every day during the six months I starched them. Personally, I like the slightly yellowish fade, so I made sure to wear them in the middle of summer, wearing them as much as I could without worrying about sweat or oil getting on them. I went two sizes larger, so there aren't any extreme whiskers or honeycomb marks, but I was particular about the size, as it would have been worn by people back then to work. The vertical fade that is unique to black tag denim was well expressed, and I'm very happy with the yellow color I was aiming for. I also paid particular attention to hemming, and in order to roll up about 2cm, I shrunk them thoroughly in the dryer before hemming them, and I was able to achieve the length I wanted. The fabric itself softened and sublimated, so it was naturally comfortable to wear, and I ended up with a pair of jeans that I'll grow to love.
