【AG71103】Ciggy Shirt

 

 

This is a special product based on a workwear brand shirt called "BIGYANK" from the 1930s-40s.

 

It comes in two colors:

・Persimmon

・Chocolate Brown

 

The detail I'd like to highlight for this shirt is, as expected, the asymmetrical "Gacha Pocket."

 

 

This detail, called the Gacha Pocket, is said to have originated from "BIGYANK," which served as the base for this item.

 

Actually, "Gacha Pocket" is not its official name.

 

BIGYANK filed a trademark application for this detail in 1929.

Its official name is the "Convenience Pocket."

 

The vertical pocket includes a pen slot.

 

 

And the smaller pocket...

This is a pocket for cigarettes, called a "Cigarette Pocket."

 

This cigarette pocket is made with a "bag stitch" construction, a design innovation to prevent cigarettes from getting damp with sweat.

 

And this shirt is...

 

 

Instead of a button-front, it features a half-zip design, meaning it's a pullover style rather than an open-front one.

 

Therefore, I would recommend your usual size or even one size up.

 

 

The zipper length of shirts from the 1930s-40s typically extends to around the chest.

This is characteristic of that era, and the length shortens as the years progress.

 

 

We've used triple stitching from the neck to the shoulders, around the arms, and from the armpits to the hem.

While reinforcement is the primary reason, when worn repeatedly and put through washing and drying, the fabric tightens up, creating a distinct texture.

In that sense, you can enjoy the aging process.

 

Isn't this an important point for both vintage lovers and other customers?

 

 

Regarding the hem,

a triangular fabric is used at the seam between the front and back panels to prevent tearing.

This triangular fabric is called a "gusset," and this detail can be found on old shirts.

 

 

And this detail.

This is a unique detail of BIGYANK, which served as the base.

 

There is a method for finishing the cuffs called "Kenboro" (sword placket), which is a common way to process it.

 

A cut is made in a single sleeve, and the fabric applied to hide the raw edge resembles a sword, hence the name "Kenboro."

However, BIGYANK omits this Kenboro.

 

Instead of a short sleeve length, it adopts "storm cuffs," where cuffs are added.

This has two benefits.

 

(First)

Storm cuffs were designed to prevent wind and dust from entering through the sleeves.

(Second)

While shirts with Kenboro tend to wrinkle when rolled up, storm cuffs maintain a neat appearance, which is a key point.

 

This is truly a special shirt, with unique and intricate details not found elsewhere, all on one shirt.

 

Persimmon is available in size L,

and Chocolate Brown is only available in XL.

However, this shirt is recommended for customers who usually wear sizes M to XL,

so please try it on at the store.
