The other day, the Vincent Shirt made with rare hand-woven Bingo-kasuri fabric arrived, so today we will be telling you about it.

What is Bingo-kasuri?

Bingo-kasuri is a traditional craft textile woven in Fuchu City and Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and is one of the three great kasuri textiles of Japan, along with Iyo-kasuri and Kurume-kasuri.

In Fukuyama, cotton cultivation flourished since the Edo period, partly due to Mizuno Katsunari, the first lord of the Fukuyama domain, encouraging cotton production. Bingo-kasuri is said to have originated from the development of silk weaving techniques to effectively utilize these abundant resources. Originally, this fabric was used for work clothes for cultivation.

Today, the number of craftsmen involved in its production has decreased, and because it requires complex processes, it has become an extremely rare fabric.

This Bingo-kasuri is indigo-dyed, and since it was originally a workwear fabric, it is perfect for American casual items. As it's indigo-dyed, you can, of course, enjoy its aging process.

Next, let's talk about the "Vincent Shirt" style used for this Bingo-kasuri shirt.

What is JELADO's classic "Vincent Shirt"?

The "Vincent Shirt" refers to a type of shirt with a distinctive collar shape that JELADO has continued to produce as a classic.

This distinctive collar is called an "Italian collar" and was made by a brand called "SIR GUY" that existed in the 1950s.

The "Vincent Shirt" was named after Gene Vincent, a rock and roller who represented the 50s and favored shirts with an Italian collar.

Although the Vincent Shirt typically has a slightly rebellious 50s style, with this fabric, it seems possible to achieve a more relaxed styling that befits a traditional textile.

Since this shirt is made from rare fabric, there aren't many. Please come check it out soon.
