The 2 Monkeys Classic Oxford Shirt【TM83128】

The scene is the 1870s.

In France, a "shirt" was considered underwear.

 

It wasn't an open-front type like today;

at that time, shirts were pullovers.

 

However, as *tuxedos became popular as formal evening wear for the upper class,

shirts, which had previously been treated as underwear, gradually evolved into fashion,

changing from pullovers to open-front styles.

As shown in the second image of the tuxedo, the V-neck of the vest underneath is quite low,

allowing the front of the shirt to be seen. This led to shirts being viewed as "fashion" rather than just underwear.

 

With this shift from underwear to fashion, the specifications changed from previous details,

resulting in an era where old and new details were blended.

 

Perhaps in the 1890s to 1910s, with blended details, shirts evolved further as fashion?

 

This shirt, released by The 2Monkeys,

is made from cotton oxford fabric and incorporates details from the era after the 1870s,

as explained above, when details were blended.

 

It features old-fashioned details such as a high-neck collar without a collar stand and gathers at the neckline.

It's a distinctive shirt with sleeves that taper from the shoulder to the cuff at an angle,

and a wide body that nevertheless follows the contours of the wearer's body.

 

This is a shirt that we really want both fans of The 2Monkeys

and those new to the brand to try.
