Today, we're excited to introduce The 2 Monkeys' first knit release: the "Guernsey Sweater."

The 2 Monkeys Old Style Guernsey Sweater【TM13853】

The Guernsey sweater is a knit style with a rich history, having been cherished for hundreds of years by fishermen and sailors on Guernsey, a small island in the English Channel that is a British Crown Dependency off the coast of Normandy, France.

(Front body)

In the old days, these sweaters were hand-knitted by women in each household. Most of them were designed with no discernible front or back.

(Back body)

They typically featured horizontal shoulders and sleeves attached straight out from the armpits with gussets.

The collar is a mock neck (a low turtleneck).

While modern Guernsey sweaters are mostly plain, they traditionally featured patterns such as cables or grids inherited by each family on the upper half, with the lower half knitted plain for ease of movement and repair.

This item reproduces the unique style of old Guernsey sweaters, knitted with a loose gauge that appears hand-knitted, and finished with a slightly relaxed fit.
