Today, we'd like to introduce an item from The 2 Monkeys.

At JELADO, it's common for products to be made based on vintage items owned by our representative, Goto, but actually, The 2 Monkeys has never done that before.

However, we have now released an item that faithfully recreates a vintage piece actually owned by Rikiya Suzuki.

The 2 Monkeys Métis Duster Coat【TM13451】

This is a newly arrived duster coat.

In 1910, only 2% of households in America owned cars.

At that time, most people traveled by horse-drawn carriages, horses, or bicycles, and cars were only owned by a few wealthy individuals.

Duster coats were worn from the late 19th century to protect against dust when riding horses or horse-drawn carriages.

It was around this time that duster coats became popular.

Back then, cars were completely convertible with no doors, so driving would kick up dust from the tires.

Duster coats, which prevented clothes from getting dusty, may have been a status symbol for the wealthy who could afford to drive cars.

At the time, duster coats were mainly long coats made of thin, unbleached linen or cotton.

As mentioned earlier, The 2 Monkeys' duster coat is based on a vintage piece owned by Rikiya Suzuki.

It is a hand-sewn garment made of tightly woven linen.

The pattern is clearly different from mass-produced items,

with hand-stitched buttonholes,

and pleats at the back hem with star-shaped embroidery above them.

We have reproduced these details, which are clearly different from modern mass-produced items, as much as possible.

For the fabric, we used a slightly crisp linen-cotton métis (a fabric blended or woven with two or more types of materials).

It comes in two colors: Ecru and Indigo.

(The indigo version has indigo-dyed warp threads, so you can enjoy its fading.)

This is a simple, popular vintage sweatshirt with

all 2-needle stitching, commonly seen in 1940s sweatshirts.

These are the easiest to wear, aren't they? (lol)

Sizes M to XL will have a tubular finish.

(*S size has been added, but it will be a "split specification" instead of tubular.)

For the sewing of this sweatshirt, vintage sewing machines are used for each part,

making it the ultimate piece with attention to every detail.

Finished with the soft texture unique to loopwheeled fabric,

and with its simple design, we believe everyone will love it.
