JELADO Madison Off White BD shirt

Our standard Madison shirt is back in stock, so this time we'll talk about the button-down shirt, a classic item in American casual wear.

The origin of the button-down shirt dates back to 19th century Britain.

Polo players, who were bothered by their shirt collars flapping during horse riding, commissioned a tailor to create buttons to hold the collar down. This is how the characteristic buttoned collar was born.

With its origins in the sport of polo, it pairs perfectly with casual styles, such as wearing it unironed with rolled-up sleeves. If ironed, it also works well with a more formal style.

The button-down shirt was later loved by students at prestigious schools on the East Coast of America and became a standard item in American casual wear. It was also favored by jazz musicians in the 1950s, such as Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan, and became a trend-setting style of its time.

This Madison shirt is made from firm oxford fabric using American combed yarn, with a focus on MADE IN JAPAN.
