These are baker pants made from "herringbone twill" fabric, adopted in 1947.

※ What is Herringbone?

"Herringbone" = "herring" (fish) + "bone"

The pattern is derived from the bone structure seen when a herring fish is filleted open.

Baker pants were worn not only on the battlefield but also during office work.

It's also said that they were worn by bakers, which led to the name "baker pants."

Made from herringbone twill fabric, they are thick and durable.
